WINTER SPORTS CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP MATCHES ON SATURDAY NIGHT. J. NICHOLLS WINS SINGLES TITLE. ! Play of a high standard was witnessed at the A and B grade championship table tennis tournament held by the Winter Sports Club on Saturday night. The singles title was carried off by J. Nicholls, who beat the Wairarapa singles title holder. I. Coleman. Miss N. Brown won the ladies' singles, anc’ Miss N. Brown and I. Coleman were successful In the combined doubles event. In the B grade D. Perrin was first in the men's singles and partnered by Miss M. Scanlon and N. Leadley respectively, he won the combined and men's doubles events. Mrs Ihaka played consistently to win the ladies' singles. The results of finals are as follow: — A GRADE. Men's singles: J. Nicholls beat I. Coleman. Ladies’ singles: Miss N. Brown beat Miss J. Larsen. Men’s doubles: Messrs I. Coleman and J. Daniell beat J. Haywood and M. Winslade. Ladies' doubles: Mesdames Nicholls and Winslade beat Misses J. Larsen and V. Ward. Combined doubles: Miss Brown and Mr I. Coleman beat Mr and Mrs J. Nicholls. B GRADE. Men's singles: D. Perrin beat W. Greenlees. Ladies' singles: Mrs Ihaka beat Mrs Catherall. Men’s doubles: Messrs D. Perrin and N. Leadley beat W. Greenlees and R? Hancock. Ladies’ doubles: Mrs Ihaka and Miss M. Scanlon beat Mrs Catherall and Mrs Leadley. Combined doubles: Miss M. Scanlon and D. Perrin beat W. Greenlees and Mrs Ihaka.
