RUGBY FOOTBALL

WAIRARAPA UNION. MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The Wairarapa Rugby Football Union’s committee met last evening in the P. and A. Society's rooms, Carterton, Mr H. A. McPhee presiding. There were also present Messrs M. J. Parker, K. G. Fairbrother, S. Henson, F. Morton. V. Welch. K. Reid, J. P. Scott and the secretary (Mr E. McKenzie). The treasurer's statement showed a credit balance of £96 12s 4d. Accounts amounting to £2O 15s 4d were passed for payment. Mr Joe Fitzgerald who had a leg broken in the final match of the season, declared on the accident fund of the union. The St. John Ambulance Brigade wrote regretting that it was not represented at the match, Carterton v. Greytown, when J. Fitzgerald was injured, and stating that it was understood that the game was off on account of the bad weather.

In reply to a question by Mr Scott, the chairman said that the usual custom was for the winners of a cup to have the same engraved at the winning club's expense. This was in relation to the Balfour Cup which had not been engraved for the 1932 season. The secretary reported that he had received no reply to his letter forwarded to the parents of the boys who had broken windows in the stand at Memorial Park, Mastertun. It was decided that the matter be placed in the hands of the Union’s solicitor to take action.
