CONSIDERABLE CHANGE REPORTED
Troops Pledged to Petain Government CONVEYED BY FRENCH WARSHIPS MANY FREE FRENCH ADHERENTS ARRESTED It is stated by General de Gaulle’s headquarters, the 8.8. C. reports, that the situation at Dakar had changed considerably since the arrival of General de Gaulle, The French warships which passed Gibraltar probably not only had their own crews aboard but troops pledged to the Petain Government. A great number of General de Gaulle’s supporters have been arrested by the Governor, who is completely under the control of the Germans and Italians, whom he greeted with open arms.
