GREYTOWN
RED CROSS SOCIETY SUCCESSFUL EUCHRE PARTY. (“Times-Age” Special.) The weekly euchre party held at Mrs Tui Morgan's residence in aid of the local Red Cross Society was well attended. The prizes for this party were donated by Mr and Mrs Arthur Nichols. They were won as follows: Ladies. Mrs Hodge; men, Mr McLeod; hidden number, Mr Gregor; consolation, ladies. Miss Hill. men. Allan Morgan. The winners of the aggregate for the past four weeks were: Ladies, Mrs Hobson: men, Mr A, Nicholls. The prizes for this competition were donated by Miss D. Roband and Mr Day. The ladies provided supper after which Mr McLeod announced that the takings for the evening had amounted to £2 2s 6d. He thanked Mr and Mrs Morgan for their hospitality. Mrs Horton returned thanks on behalf of the Red Cross Society. MOTOR LORRY ACCIDENT DRIVER ARRESTED. West Street residents were startled about 4 p.m.. yesterday when a motor lorry crashed into a telephone pole near the Police Station. The pole was broken in two places. The truck came to rest on the fence, the front wheels being buckled and the wind screen broken. The driver, George Edward Hall, of Martinborough, was arrested by Constable Gregor and will appear at the next sitting of the S.M.. court on a charge of having been drunk while in charge of a motor vehicle. Bowling. The delegates from Wairarapa Bowlings Clubs will meet at Greytown on Thursday evening.
