FORMATION OF ANOTHER DIVISION I CONSTITUTION OF ARMY CORPS. ANNOUNCEMENT BY FEDERAL PREMIER. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 9.15 a.m.) MELBOURNE. This Day. The Federal Prime Minister, Mr R. G. Menzies, announced yesterday that the War Cabinet had decided to increase the A.I.F. strength by the formation of another division. The present objective of the strength of the A.I.F. will therefore be an army corps, comprising four divisions with corps troops. The present divisions were the Sixth, Seventh and Eighth. The new one will be tho Ninth. Mr Menzies said the nucleus of the Ninth would comprise certain units at present abroad, the Division being brought up to strength by the despatch of existing reinforcements, for organisation into units abroad. The new division would not entail an immediate resumption of recruiting but it would be necessary later to replace certain units take r into the Ninth and to provide reinforcements. When recruiting is resumed a definite quota will be periodically laid down and enlistments made. Selective preference will be given to single men.
