TASTY FOR DINNER
BAKED APPLE CAKE. Mix together 1 cup plain flour and i cup brown sugar. Rub in -J cup butter until crumbly. Peel and core 6 apples and cut into 8 equal parts. Place them in rows on a well-buttered square tin about 8 inches square. Sprinkle over 2 tablespoons sugar, mixed with J level teaspoon ground cinnamon. Sprinkle over prepared flour, tapping the dish gently so that it will go between apples. Press down carefully, making the top smooth. Bake in a rather hot oven for 45 minutes or until apples are cooked. If browning too quickly top with buttered paper. Turn out and serve with boiled custard or whipped cream.
