“LEAVE THAT TO ME”

CHURCHILL ON THE BOMBING OF BERLIN. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, September 11. A hint that speedy reprisals would be taken against Berlin for the raids on London was given by Mr Churchill yesterday when he visited bomb-id areas in the East End. While he was walking along a street lined with wrecked and burnt-cut business premises a crowd of office girls and warehouse employees shouted out: “What about bo ..bing Berlin?” Mr Churchill paused and prodded his chest with his forefinger, “Leave that to me,” he said. Later a workman shouted: “Give it to ’em, Winnie. Give ’em hell.” Mr Churchill raised his hat and called back, “we'll do our damnedest.”
