The Hon H. G. R. Mason, Minister of Education, will return to Wellington tomorrow from the South Island.
The Hon W. E. Parry, Minister of Internal Affairs, will return to Wellington tomorrow from the north. The Hon Adam Hamilton, Leader of the Opposition, z who has been visiting Southland, left Invercargill for Dunedin yesterday afternoon. He will travel to Wellington today. The death of Mr John Willoughby Marshall at his residence. Tutu Totara, Marton, on Saturday last, in his ninetieth year, severed another link with the early Rangitikei settlers. He had filled many prominent positions in the Rangitikei and Wellington districts. The death has occurred in Auckland of Mr Joseph Motley, formerly wellknown in Woodville. He was born in England in 1854 and came to New Zealand in 1875. Mr Motley joined the Armed Constabulary, serving five years in Napier and Clive. In 1880 he was transferred jo Woodville to open a new police station and to act as postmaster. There he took a prominent part in the establishment of a lodge oi the Manchester Unity Order of Odd Fellows, and he acted as its first secretary for a number oi years. He was also one ’of the foundation members of the Masonic Lodge Ruahinc at Woodville. Mr Motley resigned from the police force after six years in Woodville and became manager of a cheesemaking company. Subsequently he opened at cordial factory, but in 1908 began storekeeping in Taumarunui. Later he went to Te Aroha. For 2.1 years he was a councillor in Woodville and foi' two years was mayor.
