NON-FERROUS METALS
COLLECTION IN MASTERTON SCHOOLS. LANSDOWNE'S GOOD RESPONSE. . All local primary schools and Wairarapa College have been requested to make collections of non-ferrous metals, said the Borough Sanitary Inspector, Mr T. A. Russell, this morning. Some of the schools made their effort last week and others are doing so this week. The Lansdowne School, he said, was to be complimented on the very good effort it had made. Two large packing cases of all kinds of non-ferrous metals had been collected by this school. St. Patrick’s School had also sent in a fair quantity and some had been received from Central, but this school was making its big effort this week. West School pupils had been told to put their scrap in the rubbish tins for collection by the borough refuse service. Mr Russell added that Masterton merchants had agreed to collect any scrap metals on their rounds in town or country free of charge.
