WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION. ANNUAL REPORT. The annual report of the Wairarapa Cricket Association, which will be presented at the annual meeting on Thursday night, states inter alia: — Finance. —The position in this regard is quite satisfactory and shows a credit of £2l 12s sd. Included in the receipts is a sum of £lO 8s collected from honorary members and £5 4s by way of donations, and we- specially thank those responsible. Club competitions.—Senior championship: Winners, Red Star Cricket Club; runnersup, Lansdowne Cricket Club; junior championship, winner, Odd Fellows Cricket Club; runners-up, Martinborough Cricket Club. Bidwill Cup, winner, Red Star Cricket Club. DarvillIllingsworth Shield winner, Odd Fellows Cricket Club. Arthur Hoar Memorial Cup, winner, W. Whiteman. D. K. Logan Memorial Cup, winner, N. Hoar, 40 wickets. We offer to the above-mentioned teams and individuals our congratulations on their performances. Representative matches: The results of the representative matches played were as follow: Wairarapa v Mercantile League, Wairarapa, Ist innings 150 (I. Coleman 45, Clarke 30); 2nd innings 199 (I. Coleman 50. W: Peterson 41, F. Hoar 31). Mercantile League: Ist innings, 247 (N. Hoar 5 for 59, Upston 3 for 16). 2nd innings, 109 for 6 wickets (N. Hoar 3 for 14). Mercantile won by 4 wickets. Wairarapa juniors v Bush representatives, played at Pahiatua: Bush, Ist innings 186 (Harp 61); Wairarapa Ist innings 145 (Thompson 29) —a win for Bush by 41 runs. A return match was played on Easter Monday on the Park Oval at Masterton. which resulted in a win for the Wairarapa team by an innings and 6 runs. Old Timers’ match. —The Old Timers’ match was played and proved very successful and popular. Teams were selected from North and South Wairarapa and were lead by Mr T. Jordan (North.) and Mr D. C. Collins (South) and the result was as follows: —North Wairarapa, 126; South Wairarapa, 102. Attendances of delegates.—The management held 7 meetings during the year and the delegates attended as follows: E. S. Smith 4, V. Greer 6, J. Magill 6, J. Renner 6, G. Peterson 6, J. Logan 4 (on military service), P. G. Ramsay 4, T. E. Handcock 5 (resigned). Appreciation.-—Your committee sincerely thank all those who assisted to make the season so successful, more particularly the umpires, selectors, officers of the association, and many others. We greatly appreciate the publicity given by the Press and also the Masterton Borough Council and Wairarapa College Board for the use of their respective grounds as well as the groundsmen responsible for the preparation of the playing areas. We also desire to place on record the services rendered by Mr T. E. Handcock, who has resigned to take up a military position. On the eve of our retirement from office we desire, on behalf of the management committee, to thank all clubs for the support accorded the game during the past season, and we trust the incoming committee will receive the same generous assistance. We appeal to retired cricketers to rally round and keep the game going.
