GOLF BALL A BRILLIANT SUCCESS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual ball of the local Golf Club was held on Saturday evening and despite the heavy rain during the day and evening there was a good attendance, representatives being present from various clubs. The ball was a brilliant success The arrangements were complete to the smallest detail, thanks to the excellent work of the committee. A feature of the ball was the savoury supper which was enjoyed by all. The music was supplied by Mr Stewart, extras being played by Mrs McGregor and Mr McKinstry. The duties of M’s.C. were ably carried out by Messrs I. McGregor and F. McKinstry.
GOLF COMPETITION STABLEFORD SCORES. A Stableford competition was played over the weekend. The best cards handed in were by Mrs Nitz net 62 with 37 stableford, and Miss Schofield 65 with 34 stableford among the ladies, while in the men’s section R. Weston and E. Nitz were all square, the scores being 64 with 37 stableford. On the next playing day the stableford competition will be continued. SERVICES RECOGNISED GIFT TO MISS VENNELL. A very pleasant function took place at the close of the play in the golf championship, when a presentation was made to Miss Vennell who will be married very shortly. In handing an afternoon teaset to Miss Vennell, Mr S. Gray (president) referred to the splendid support given to the club by Miss Vennell since its inception. On behalf of the members he wished Miss Vennell happiness and success in the future. Miss Vennell suitably replied.
