NAVY AT WORK
ATTACKS ON ENEMY SHIPPING CONCENTRATED IN CHANNEL PORTS. STRONG OFFENSIVE ACTION. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 1.15 p.m.) RUGBY. September 11. Mr Churchill’s reference in his broadcast to the shelling by the Royal Navy of ship concentrations on the other side of the Channel was explained in an Admiralty communique on Wednesday night which stated: "Strong and repeated offensive action is being taken by our light forces against German shipping movements, ports and concentrations of shipping. These operations have inflicted losses upon the enemy, as well as damage to port’ facilities which would be vital to him in the event of an attempt to invade England. Further details cannot be given without disclosing information which would be useful to the enemy.” BOMBING & SHELLING REPEATED AGAINST DOVER. SOME FATAL AND OTHER CASUALTIES. (Received This Day, 1.35 p.m.) LONDON. September 11. After bombing and shelling for several hours in the afternoon, the Dover area was again shelled and bombed at dusk. There were some casualties, including a few deaths. The town’s water supply was damaged.
