FUND IN MELBOURNE
FOR RELIEF OF BRITISH VICTIMS OPENED BY LORD MAYOR. PROMPT AND GENEROUS RESPONSE. (Recevied This Day, 9 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. The City Council is giving £25,000 to a fund, opened by the Lord Mayor, for the relief of victims of the German bombing' raids on Britain. When the fund is officially inaugurated, at a public meeting today, the Lord Mayor will be able to announce that £40,000 is already in hand. The proposal to establish the fund has received prompt response from Victorians and thousands of pounds support' has already been received.
