GOVERNMENT EASILY RETAINS SEAT. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) SYDNEY, September 10. The by-election for the Croydon seat in the New South Wales Legislative Assembly due to the resignation of the former Premier, Mr B. S. B. Stevens (United Australian Party) to contest a Federal seat, resulted in the Government candidate, r Mr David Hunter, having a comfortable victory by more than 2000 votes over the official La bour nominee. Mr George Weir.
