SOCIAL NUISANCE
MAN SENTENCED ON CHARGES OF ARSON. DECLARED BY COUNSEL TO BE SUBNORMAL. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH. This Day. “I can only take the view that you are a social nuisance of a particularly dangerous type.” said Mr Justice Northcroft in the Supreme Court today, in sentencing Robert Henry Butcher, a singled man aged 40. to three year's reformative detention on charges of arson. Counsel said Butcher was subnormal, but medical opinion did not consider him suitable for an asylum.
