Owing to the members of the council being engaged in increased farm production the meeting of the finance committee will be held in the afternoon during the next few months. In connection with the request by the National Council relative to waste materials the county clerk reported that in the past all material had been saved and sold to scrap metal dealers. When the request had been received some 4 cwt of scrap metal had been set aside, and arrangements were being made to have it despatched to Wellington as requested. The trustees in the estate of the late Dr Trimble wrote acknowledging receipt of the plan of the county, together with a description of the borders as Gazetted. It was stated that these had been filed for reference, and that the afforestation scheme would be soon in operation.
