BERLIN PREPARES
FOR FURTHER R.A.F. ATTACKS A.R.P. SERVICES BEING STRENGTHENED. ACTION' TAKEN ALSO IN ITALY. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, September 9. Berlin is preparing in grim earnest for further R.A.F. attacks, and A.R.P. services are being strengthened. The people are being urged to stay home, retire early and get as much sleep as possible before midnight and to set their alarms for midnight in order to be ready for. raids. It is now admitted that this is what the entire population of parts of western Germany has been doing for months. Now it is the turn of Berlin, where it is expected that there may be a number of air raids during the long winter nights ahead. The people of Italy are also beginning to take aii- raids more seriously and air raid precautions services have been created on a national basis. At both Turin and Milan employers have been ordered to provide adequate air raid shelters for their workers.
