RACING CLUB MEETING OF STEWARDS. (“Times-Age” Special.) zX meeting of stewards of the Wairarapa Racing Club was held on Thursday. Those present were Messrs J. W. Card. A. Campbell Pearce, D. H. S. Riddiford, R. N. Barton, C. J. Nix, D. C. Collins, Percy Tilson, J. F. Thompson, D. Cameron, E. W. Martin, J. G. Donald and Roy Donald. Mr J. W. Card was appointed chairman for the ensuing year. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs W. Howard Booth and H. Lawson. Two resignations were received and accepted with regret. The following sub-committees were appointed:—Course committee: Messrs C. J. Nix, J. G. Donald, A. C. Pearce. W. Howard Booth and Roy Donald. Finance committee: Messrs J. W. Card, D. H. S. Riddiford, R. N. Barton and H. Lawson. Programme committee: Messrs J. W. Card, D. H. S. Riddiford, R. N. .Barton, Roy Donald and H. Lawson. Entertaining committee: Messrs W. J. Martin, D. Cameron, T. Benton, J. W. Card, A. C. Pearce, D. H. S. Riddiford and J. F. Thompson. Catering committee: Messrs W. Howard Booth, A. C. Pearce and J. F. Thompson. Beautifying committee: Messrs W. S. Martin, D. H. S. Riddiford, W. Howard Booth and E. W. Martin. Horses out: Messrs J. G. Donald and W. Howard Booth. At start: Messrs R. A. Donald and Percy Tilson. Horses in: Messrs A. C. Pearce and Roy Donald. Course stewards: Messrs R. N. Barton and E. W. Martin. Judicial committee:, Messrs J. W. Card, C. J. Nix, A. C. Pearce, D. H. S. Riddiford and R. N. Barton. Totalisator: Mr H. Lawson. The chairman will be ex-officio on all sub-committees. Wrestling. Next Thursday night there will be staged in the local Town Hall an amateur wrestling tournament between the local school and that of Geo. Walker, of Wellington. Patrons are assured, as on all’ previous occasions, of seeing some highly colourful wrestling. The proceeds will be devoted to the Wellington Patriotic Society. The visitors have been trained by a wrestler of world-wide reputation. George Walker will be remembered by the public as chiefly responsible for reviving wrestling in New Zealand. Personal Items. Mr N. C. C. Shepherd, who has been confined to his home with a severe attack of influenza, is making good progress towards recovery. Mrs Keeghan, Wellington, is the guest of Mrs Lowell. During Constable McNamara’s absence on leave, his place is being taken by Constable F. T. Foley, of Wellington.
