OBITUARY

MR JAMES DRUMMOND. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Obituary: Mr James Drummond, the, naturalist, aged 70. The late Mr James Drummond, who was born at Thames, was a wellknown New Zealand journalist and naturalist. He followed his profession in different parts of New Zealand, and for many years was a member of the staff of the “Lyttelton Times,” Christchurch. He retired in 1931. He was a student of New Zealand history and natural history and was the author of several books on New Zealand subjects, one of the best known being “Animals of New Zealand,” which he wrote in association with the late Captain F. W. Hutton. He contributed a weekly natural history column to a syndicate of leading New Zealand journals for nearly 30 years.
