PATRIOTIC FUNDS

ALLOCATION OF A. & P. BALL PROCEEDS. Confessing themselves as being completely in the dark concerning patriotic funds, and as to which fund to allocate the proceeds of the A. and P. Ball, something of a problem was presented to the committee of the Masterton A. and P. Association at its meeting last night. It was eventually decided to make the donation to the Wellington Provincial Patriotic Fund. The proceeds amounted to £53. “We are all aware of the fact that the Provincial Fund is pretty bare at the present time,” said the president, Mr R. E. Gordon Lee in suggesting that the amount go to the Provincial FundA Mr C. C. Ruby (treasurer): “I think A it should go to local organisations such as the Red Cross. They are our first call.” Mr Lee: “I understood that the Provincial Fund could draw off the National Fund. Such is apparently not the case. Mr W. Kemp: “I am not in favour of the money going to the National Fund. The Provincial Fund is called upon for so many things and I consider that we should make the donation to that fund."
