GREYTOWN
COURT BUSINESS YESTERDAY’S SITTING. (“Times-Age” Special.) At a sitting of the Magistrate’s Court in Greytown yesterday, Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M., was on the bench. In a civil case, Mark Maxton v. F. Flood, claim £4 4s, judgment was given for plaintiff by default, with costs £1 3s 6d. On a judgment summons Mrs T. P. Strang was ordered to pay Charles Begg and Co., the sum of £7 4s with solicitor's fee 15s Cd, in default 7 days’ imprisonment, warrant suspended as long as 10s per fortnight is paid. The police proceeded against Charles Swinn, on a charge of having control of liquor near a dance hall at Greytown. Defendant was fined £2 with costs 10s. Golf. The first round of the mixed foursome for the President’s trophy will be played on Saturday by members of the Greytown Golf Club. The draw for partners will be made at the clubhouse at 1.10 p.m. Euchre Parties. An interesting series of euchre parties has just concluded in and around Humphries Street, and, no doubt, by this time another has started. Since June 6, the residents of Humphries Street and their friends have contributed over £2O to patriotic funds. This is a very fine gesture on their part and the local Citizens’ Committee is duly grateful for their generous efforts. Woodside Children. Advice has been received by the chairman of the Greytown District High School Committee that the Education Department has decided not to convey the Woodside children to Greytown by bus. Owing to the railway timetable these children lose over an hours’ schooling every day.
