A formation of enemy planes passed over a town not far from the Thames Estuary during London’s morning alarm. British fighters routed a strong force of enemy raiders in a terrific battle over a south-east coastal district. Two raiders were shot down within a few minutes. One fell in flames inland and the other dived into the Channel about three miles from Folkestone. BERLIN REPORT BRITISH PLANES BROUGHT DOWN. (Received This Day, 9 a.m.) BERLIN, September 4. Informed circles claim that four or five British planes were brought down when approaching Berlin last night.
