An official spokesman in Berlin said that two squadrons of British bombers were seen approaching Berlin from the north-west last night. Only two pierced the city’s anti-aircraft defences and < the others turned back after skirting the suburbs. GERMAN CLAIM LONDON, September 4. Il is claimed in Berlin that 39 British planes were shot down in the battles yesterday and 12 German machines are missing.
