DRESS COLOURS
TO BE BRIGHTER. Reaction from the monotony of uniform is likely to create a heavy demand for brighter and lighter colours in dress materials next summer, forecast buyers for leading New Zealand city stores. “A predominance of pastel colours, and less black and navy,” is their summing-up.
Difficulty in importation is resulting in increasing ■ local manufacture and dyeing of dress goods. The New Zealand woman's natural love of gay colours will set new colour trends. Dress lengths in summer materials are being bought or placed on lay-by by hundreds of women Who fear that prices may rise. Leading stores, however, report that they have sufficient stores of summer materials to meet new season’s demands.
