SOLWAY RAINFALL

FIGURES FOR AUGUST. Mr H. M. Boddington reports that rain was measured on 17 days in AugI ust. The maximum was 66 points on August 24, and the minimum 1 point on the, 14th. The total for the month was 4.37 inches, as compared with 3.71 (1939), 2.62 (1938), 1.53 (1937), 3.06 (1936) and 4.25 (1935). The average for 37 years is 3.57 inches. The rainfall foreight months is 23.31 inches, as against 21.93 (1939), 31.62 (1938), 23.10 (1937), 32.73 (1936), 28.95 (1935), the average for 37 years being 26.77 inches.
