GERMAN LOSSES
IN RAIDS ON BRITAIN YESTERDAY
FORTY.TWO PLANES SHOT DOWN THIRTEEN BRITISH FIGHTERS LOST. BUT PILOTS OF SEVEN SAFE. In raids on Britain yesterday the Germans lost 42 planes, states a Daventry broadcast. Thirteen British fighters were lost, but the pilots of seven are safe. GIANT BOMBERS FIRST USE AGAINST BRITAIN. POWERFUL ARMOURED MACHINES. (Received This Day, 1.15 p.m.) LONDON. September 2.
The “Daily Express’ says the giant black 4-engined bombers, which were used in this morning's German raids, are more heavily armoured and more powerfully equipped with machineguns and carry a greater number of heavier bombs, than any planes yet sent against Britain.
