NAZI THREAT
WHOLE OF RUMANIA TO BE OCCUPIED IF ANTI-AXIS AGITATION CONTINUES. BUCHAREST CORRESPONDENT’S REPORT. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 11.50 a.m.) LONDON, September 2. The Associated Press of Great Britain Bucharest correspondent says semi-official German circles, angered by the anti-Axis demonstrations, have threatened that German troops will occupy the whole cf Rumania if the nation-wide agitation is not checked.
POLICEMEN KILLED OPPOSING HUNGARIAN ENTRY. (Received This Day, 11.45 a.m.) BUCHAREST, September 2. Nine Rumanian policemen were killed or wounded when they resisted .Hungarian troops crossing the frontier near Oradea. MANY ARRESTS INCLUDING MEMBERS OF IRON GUARD. (Received This Day, 12.20 p.m.) BUCHAREST, September 2. It is officially stated that 281 “alarmists’’ have been sent to concentration camps and many leaders, including members of the Iron Guard and a former member of the Cabinet, are under house arrest. OCCUPATION PLAN SCHEDULED FOR COMPLETION NEXT WEEK. (Received This Day, 12.20 p.m.) BUDAPEST, September 2. It is officially announced that Hungarian troops will begin the occupation on September 5, completing it on September 13. The schedule includes Cluj on September’ 11. The Rumanian army has already withdrawn from the Ruthenian frontier, which will be the first area of occupation.
