MADE BY GERMAN RAIDERS

Twenty-five Shot Down in Britain Yesterday MANY OBJECTIVES BOMBED BY R.A.F. INCLUDING SUBMARINE AND E-BOAT BASE ON WEST COAST OF FRANCE At least 25 German planes were destroyed in raids on Britain yesterday, a Daventry broadcast states. Seven British planes were lost, but the pilots of four are known to be safe. Yesterday morning’ a battle developed over the Thames Estuary and Kent. Bombs were dropped. Later in the day, a further attack was made in the same area. The casualties were only slight, though several deaths occurred in one town. Two air raid warnings were sounded in London, but once more the raiders were driven off. On Sunday night there were no alarms in London and people were allowed to sleep in peace. Other parts of the country were raided, but none on a very heavy scale. Military objectives in enemy territory were again bombed by the R.A.F. on Sunday night, attacks being made in Germany, Italy, Holland and France. The objectives included aircraft and munition factories and shipping, and in Italy the Fiat aircraft factory and a magneto works. Aircraft of the Coastal Command attacked an enemy submarine and E-boat base on the west coast of France. All the British machines returned safely except one, which crashed on landing.
