DROWNED IN WATER-RACE

ASHBURTON. September 1

Arthur Sowden, the 14 months' son of Mr and Mrs J. Sowden, was drowned on Saturday afternoon in a waterrace on Mr G. S. Campbell’s farm at Rakeby, where the parents are employed. The child followed his father to a nearby shed and was missed 10 minutes later. The muddiness of the race lengthened the search. Artificial respiration was unsuccesssful.
