FANCY DRESS BALL

SUCCESSFUL EFFORT. (“Times-Age” Special.) The children’s fancy dress ball organised by the junior members of the Red Cross Society was very successful and enjoyable, the hall being filled and a variety of costumes in evidence. The three girls mainly responsible for the organisation, Mavis Edmonds, Marie MacDonald and Eileen Napier, deserve great credit for their efforts. Mesdames Geof. Houlbrooke and Spring, and Mr Geof. Curtis supplied music for the dances.' Marshalled by Mesdames G. Napier and E. Seymour the children performed a grand march very credibly. The costumes of the children attracted considerable attention, there being only a few duplications. The supper provided by the parents was served most capably by members of the Junior Red Cross Society and helpers. Flower posies were sold, and helped to swell the funds which reached a total of £7 4s. Personal Items. Mr and Mrs A. Hessels left today for Nelson. They will slay at Masterton and Carterton en route.
