EMPIRE AIRWAYS
THE ENGLAND-AUSTRALIA SERVICE. MAY BE RE-ESTABLISHED SHORTLY. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, August 31. The "Evening Standard" says the British air route between England and Australia will be re-established shortly if British Overseas Airways are able to obtain flyingboats to operate one link of the route between England. Lisbon. Lagos (Nigeria). Khartoum. Cairo. Karachi, and Sydney. This development is made possible by the favourable attitude of the Governor of Chad territory, which lies across the route between Lagos and Khartoum. The stretch between Lisbon and Lagos requires the use of flying-boats, which are not yet available.
