FREE LIBRARY

ANOTHER FAVOURABLE REPLY.

TO MASTERTON QUESTIONNAIRE,

A further reply to a questionnaire regarding the free library system has been received by- the Town Clerk, Mr G. T. O'Hara Smith, from the Balclutha ‘i Borough Council. * “We can name no fault,” states the Town Clerk of Balclutha. “The books are the best procurable and it seems no expense is spared to get the right class of books. My- committee is completely satisfied with the books and the punctilious and courteous service of the officials of the Country Library Service.”

The library membership had increased from 335 to 430, and 37 per cent of the books read were non-fiction.
