WEDDING

LESSELS—ROLLS. An event of considerable interest in the district occurred on Saturday last when the marriage was solemnised at St. Aidan's Church,-Alfredton, of Annie (Doll), only daughter of Mr H. Rolls, and the late Mrs Rolls, and Alec Neil, youngest son of the late Mr and Mrs Lessels, Nelson. The bride's gown was of heavy satin, simply cut, the folded neckline falling softly to a diamond motif, heavily embroidered, into which the skirt was fully rucked on either side. The folds of the skirt gave a Grecian' effect, and fell to a train. The veil of silk net was heavily embroidered and gathered to form a halo effect over the head, this being further enhanced by a halo of orange blossom. The veil formed a second train, and silver shoes completed the toilette. The bride's bouquet was of lilies, gardenias and maidenhair fern.

Attending the bride as matron-of-honour and bridesmaid, respectively, were Mrs M. Lessels and Miss Joan Rolls (cousin of the bride). Their frocks of delphinium blue and salmon pink, respectively, were cut on fitting lines. The V-shaped necklines were outlined in silver, and tiny silver bows adorned the bodices, while silver posies held, their shoultier veils which matched the frocks. With this the attendants carried tiny muffs adorned with tulle and flower posies. A small cousin of the bride, Linda Burch, was flower girl. She was in a full-length frock of silk net over lemon taffeta with a wide lemon sash, and a tiny matching muff. Barry Rolls, the bride's youngest brother, attended as page boy in a suit of deepest blue satin, complete with lace ruffles at the wrists and buckled shoes.

A brother of the groom, Mr Mac Lessels, was best man, and Mr Evan Rolls was groomsman. The Rev. L. Ives was the officiating minister, and Mrs W. Hood, aunt of the bride, presided at the organ. Raymond Edmonds, a cousin, presented the bride with a. silver horseshoe as she left the church. After the ceremony a reception was held at the hall, where Mrs A. Hansen and Mrs W. Rolls received the guests. Mrs Hansen was attired in a red flecked woollen frock, black hat, and fur cape, while Mrs Rolls wore navy, with a wine hat. Their shoulder sprays were of freesias, violets and fern. The three-tiered wedding cake was made by the bride's aunt, Mrs A. Hansen and iced by Mrs W. Dickens. The usual toast list was honoured, toasts being proposed by Messrs A. H. Herbert, L. Ives, W. Lessels, R. Low and T. Rolls. Guests were present from Nelson, Masterton, and surrounding districts. When Mr and Mrs A. Lessels left on their honeymoon Mrs Lessels wore a simple black frock, with diamante clasp at the neckline, and gray iuifabric coat, and black toque with eyeveil and black accessories. Their home will be in Nelson.
