CARTERTON
WEDDING HOOPER—MILLER. ("Times-Age” Special.) A wedding of considerable local interest took place recently at St. Mane’s Anglican Church, Carterton, the contracting parties being Mabel Sybil, daughter of Mrs H. C. Merwood, and the late Mr A. W. Miller, and Trevor Jack, son of Mrs and the late Mr J. T. Hooper, Carterton. The bride who was escorted by her brother, looked charming in a gown of Persian lamb satin, cut with a high neckline and full panelled skirt, which fell into a graceful train, her embroidered tulle veil being caught to her head with a coronet of orange blossoms. Her bouquet was composed of spring flowers and maidenhair fern. Miss Betty Merwood, the bride's sister, attended as bridesmaid and wore a pretty frock of blue flame shot taffeta, with matching tulle shoulder veil, caught from the crown of the head with a spray of flowers. She carried a bouquet to tone. Mr Lindsay Bicknell, of Carterton, was best man.
A reception was afterwards held in St. Mark’s Parish Hall. The guests were received by the bride’s mother who was attired in a navy costume and fur stole, with shoulder spray of red anemonies and fern. She was assisted by the bridegroom’s mother who wore a blue woollen frock and navy coat, with a shoulder spray of wallflowers and leaves in autumn shades. Later Mr and Mrs Hooper left by motor car on their honeymoon, the bride travelling in a teal frock and coat, with navy accessories. The bridegroom’s gift to his bride was a fur stole, and the bride’s gift to the bridegroom a woollen dressing gown. The bridesmaid was the recipient of a fountain pen and pencil. Mr and Mrs T. J.
