FEATHERSTON

BOWLING CLUB ANNUAL MEETING OF MEMBERS. ("Times-Age” Special.) The annual meeting of the Featherston Bowling Club was held in the Club Pavilion last night. There were present Messrs J. W. Card (in the chair). G. O'Neale, J. Willet. L. James, R. P. Hardy. J. B. Davis, W. Robinson and A. B. Fuge.

The report and balance sheet were received and adopted. Mr W. Elder was elected an honorary member: The election of officers resulted as follows: Patron, Mr R. W. Matthews (re-elected); president. Mr L. James; vice-presidents, Messrs J. B. Davis and A. B. Fuge; hon secretary, Mr H. Rolls (re-elected); hon treasurer. Mr H. R. Bloxam (re-elected); hon auditor. Mr C. W. Ritchie; committee, Messrs J. Higgison, J. Willet. J. W. Card. W. Rowles, J. Anderson and R. P. Hardy.

A vote of sympathy was passed to Mr H. W. Ayre in his illness. . Miniature cups were presented to the winners of last year’s championships as follows: Singles. H. Rolls; pairs. J. B. Davis and J. Deas; rinks, J. B. Davis. H. McNamara. J. Higgison and J. Deas.

Congratulations on winning the three Wairarapa championships was received from the Martinborough and Masterton Park clubs. The annual report stated inter alia: The past season can be put down as the most successful one in the club's history, seeing that its members were the champions in the whole three contests. rinks, pairs and singles,- of the Wairarapa Centre Championship. a feat not previously equalled by any other club. We were represented at the N.Z. Centennial championships held at Wellington in January in the rinks, pairs and singles, and although not winners, our representatives performed very credibly. Mr Rolls in the singles finishing in third place. During the season our greenkeeper, Mr J. Lepenski, was taken ill and was in the Masterton Hospital for some time but he has recovered sufficiently to be about again, and the club hopes it will not be long before he has fully recovered. It was necessary to secure the services of another keeper and Mr H. Clark, very kindly carried on and under his supervision the green has been top-dressed and attended to during the winter with such care that it looks as though our green will be equal to any in the Wairarapa during the coming season.

The new season is to be opened on Saturday, October 5.

WEDDING WADSWORTH—VILES. . A tailored ensemble of clover and teal, with accessories to match, and a shoulder spray of cyclamen and violets was worn by Nance, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs A. Viles, Featherston, when she was married to Arthur, only son of Mr and Mrs Wadsworth. Main Road, Karori, at St John’s Church, Featherston, last Saturday afternoon. The Rev J. T. Holland conducted the service. The bride was escorted by her brother, Sapper C. J. Viles, and was attended by Miss D. Whitehead, of Napier. who chose an ensemble of powder blue and carried a posy of violets and hyacinths. Mr R Campbell, of Wellington, supported the bridegroom. Relatives and close friends of both families were entertained at afternoon tea by Mrs A. Viles and Mrs G. Welch, sister of the bridegroom.

MINIATURE RIFLES WIN FOR SOUTH FEATHERSTON. The return match between the South Featherston and the Featherston Miniature Rifles teams was fired on the Featherston, range and resulted in a win for the visitors. The scores were as follow:—South Featherston: A. Gain 99, Mrs Willis 97, Miss J. Burt 95. Mrs Burt 96, R. Jepson 96, M. Hodder 98. L. Rasmussen 98. R. Rasmussen 99. D. Fenwick 97. K.
