Mr D. E. Fairhall, of Martinborough, has been instructed to report to die Royal New Zealand Air Force Station, Harewood, for an elementary training course for wireless operating, pending posting to a technical instruction school.
Constable S. R. Hercock, of Levin, who is on his annual leave, is at present in Masterton. Accompanied by his wife he is slaying with Mr and Mrs j. J. Hercock. Constable Hercock was stationed at Featherston some years ago.
The Hon. F. Jones, Minister of Defence, left Wellington last night for Christchurch, where he will open the Union Jack Club today. The Minister will later go on to Dunedin, where he will arrive on Saturday afternoon. lie intends to spend a few days at .us home there.
Messrs G. W. Brown. M. J. Webster, and F R. Wrigley. Wellington, and Messrs W. L. Cook and B. W. Potter, Palmerston North, have been admitted to membership of the New Zealand Society of Accountants with the status of A.R.A.N.Z. (associate registered accountant).
The funeral of the late Mrs A. A. Adderson took place in Masterton yesterday afternoon, the service at the Salvation Army Citadel and that at the graveside being conducted by Brigadier H. Powrick and Majors Mahaffie and Armstrong. Wreaths were sent by Major and Mrs Mahaffie and comrades of the Masterton Corps. Whatman Home domestic staff and porters at the hospital, besides many otheis from private individuals. Messis A. Fairbrother, C. Fairbroiher. W. J. Willoughby. J. Leighton, F. J. Davies and W. H. Trudgeon were the pallbearers.
