WAR TAXATION
INCREASES IN SOUTH AFRICA.

The Finance Minister, Mr J. H. Hofmeyr, presented a supplementary budget of £32.938,000, of which £32,000,000 is required for defence, making the total defence allocation for the year £46,000,000.
The income tax and supertax are both being increased by 20 per cent, which will be a special war levy.
