THIRD NIGHT WARNING IN LONDON Vigorous Attacks by British Bombers ON ENEMY LAND AND NAVAL BASES ITALIAN FACTORIES AGAIN RECEIVE ATTENTION London has had an air raid warning’ for the third night running, Daventry reports. An Air Ministry communique states that a large number of enemy aircraft again attempted to penetrate the British defences yesterday afternoon. Few bombs were dropped except in one town in the Thames Estuary, where some damage was done and a small number of casualties were caused. Up to 8 p.m., 24 enemy aircraft had been shot down. Twelve British lighters were lost but the pilots of four are safe. On Tuesday night, an Air Ministry communique states, British bombers attacked military objectives in Germany, Italy and enemy-occupied France. Docks at Kiel and Wilhelmshaven, a transformer station, a Messerschmitt factory, oil tanks, supply depots and several aerodromes were attacked. In Italy the Fiat works at Turin and a factory near Milan were again bombed. In enemy-occupied territory oil.tanks at Bordeaux, Brest and Cherbourg were bombed. One British machine is missing.
