JOHNSONVILLE SALE EWE PRICES EASIER. COWS AND HEIFERS IN DEMAND (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. A large yarding of bullocks and a smaller yarding of cows and heifers than usual were forward at the stock sale conducted in Johnsonville yesterday. Extra prime heavy bullocks met with good competition at prices firm on those ruling last week. Light and mediumweight cattle were slightly easier. Cows and heifers met with a ready sale at almost unchanged prices. A large yarding of all classes of sheep was forward. Only a few pens of heavyweight wethers were included the balance of the yarding comprising lightweight and unfinished sorts. Prime quality wethers met with no alteration in prices, though lightweight and medium wethers were Is 6d to 2s a head easier than last week. All classe of ewes were fully 2s to 2s 6d a head down on last week's rates. Hoggets showed no alteration. Prices are:—

Cattle: Prime extra heavy bullocks £l7 to £l5 18s 6d, prime heavy £l5 12s to £l4 18s, heavy £l4 12s Cd to £l4, light and unfinished £l3 10s to £l2 8s 6d; extra prime heavy cows and heifers £l2 10s to £ll 15s, prime heavy £ll 5s to £lO 10s, cows and heifers £9 10s to £8 ss; runners, heavy, £6 5s to £5 15s; vealers, plain, £2 to £l.

Sheep: Prime extra heavy wethers 42s to 39s 6d, prime heavy 38s 9d to 36s 6d, medium 35s to 325, light, 31s to 28s 6d; prime extra heavy ewes, young, 36s 9d to 345, prime heavy ewes 33s 6d to 30s, medium 28s 6d to 275; heavy hoggets 31s 6d to 275, hoggets 25s 6d to 20s.

ADDINGTON VALUES STORE SHEEP SELL WELL. CHRISTCHURCH, August 28. All classes of store sheep met a good demand at the Addington stock sale today, but fat cattle and fat sheep were both easier. The store sheep yarding numbered about 4000, the same as last week, and again there was a good selection. The rising tendency of last week was repeated. The first pens of ewes and lambs this season made to 18s 6d.

The fat sheep entry of 4000 head included many from the south. Frozen mutton brought prices down Is all round, and the fall was greater for heavy sheep. Heavy wethers made 44s to 465, medium weights to 43s 6d, ordinary to 40s; heavy ewes to 50s Id, medium weights to 36s 6d, others to 31s.

A large entry of fat cattle was of mixed quality and prices were down by £1 to £1 5s a head. Heavy steers sold to £25 12s 6d, medium to £l7 10s, others to £l4 10s; prime heifers to £2O 2s 6d, ordinary to £ll 15s; prime cows to £lB 7s 6d, ordinary to £9 15s. A medium entry of porker pigs sold at prices on a par to slightly better. A medium entry of baconers met an erratic sale, but prices were a shade better. Porkers made 8d to Btd a pound and baconers'7Jd to Bd.

MASTERTON SALE FAT SHEEP PRICES DECLINE. STORES ALSO EASIER. The Associated Auctioneers report: We held our weekly sale at Masterton yesterday when a fairly big yarding was submitted to a fair attendance. Another big entry of fat sheep came forward and these met a weak market. Prices were lower 2s to 3s per head. The store market was also easier. Vendors met the market and a total clearance was effected as under: —Fat woolly wethers, 33s to 355, lighter, 30s to 31s 6d; shorn wethers. 25s 6d to 26s 6d; woolly fat ewes (heavy), 31s to 335, medium, 23s to 265, light, 21s to 225; store woolly wethers, 30s Id; wether hoggets. 20s 9d to 23s 6d; ewe hoggets (medium). 28s to 30s; small ewe hoggets. 20s 6d to 235; b.f. hoggets (good). 21s 6d to 23s 7d, medium. 18s to 19s 6d: cows on drop, £8 15s.
