BRITISH WARSHIPS ENTER BARDIA HARBOUR DEFENCES SHELLED AT CLOSE RANGE. BOMA ALSO ATTACKED. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright LONDON, August 27. The shelling of Bardia, an Italian naval base in Libya, is announced in today’s naval communique from Cairo.

This says that on Friday night ships of the Mediterranean Fleet went right into the harbour and engaged the defences at point-blank range. It is known that there have been large Italian troop and supply concentrations at Bardia.

This is the second bombardment oi Bardia within seven days.

The communique adds that ships pf the Mediterranean Fleet also shelled the Italian seaplane base at Boma.
