UNDER CONSCRIPTION LAW

BRINGING TERRITORIALS TO WAR STRENGTH.
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, August 27. A statement that the first ballot under conscription would probably be held next month was made tonight by the Chief of the General Staff, Major General Sir John Duigan, while addressing troops of the Auckland Battalion of the National Reserve.
After inspecting them at the drill hall, Major General Duigan explained later that a ballot would be held in the near future to bring the Territorial force up to war establishment. Other details were not yet available.
