LIMITS ON CONSCRIPTION

WASHINGTON. August 27
The Senate by 67 votes to 4 approved an amendment to the Conscription Bill restricting the use of men conscripted to the western hemisphere or United States possessions after rejecting a substitute amendment also prohibiting their use in South America.
The Senate amended the Bill to limit the total number of conscripts at any one time in peace time to 900.000.
