FERRIER BARRED. FROM U.S.A. CHAMPIONSHIP. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) CHICAGO. August 27. The Australian golfer. J. Ferrier, announced that he had been barred from competing in the United States amateur championship. He said he presumed this action was because of his book. “Jim Ferrier’s Golf Shots.” The United States Golf Association confirmed Ferrier’s announcement and issued a statement that it was forced to decline his entry because of his book, which “consists principally of photographs of Ferrier making his shots, accompanied by printed material of an instructive nature. Ferrier stated to tlie association that he contracted to receive royalties from the book; therefore he is ineligible.”
