WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
MEETING AT HASTWELLS. COMPETITION WINNERS. At the monthly meeting of the Hastwells Women’s Institute Mrs A. V. Madsen presided over a small attendance of members. Arrangements were made to send the soldiers’ Christmas parcels away this month.
The competitions for the month resulted as follows: —Seniors: Children’s bloomers, Mrs Elliott, 1; Miss A. Dick, 2; Mrs Caseby, 3. Juniors: Children’s petticoats: Miss I. Madsen, 1; Miss E. Larsen. 2. Best flower in the garden: Mrs Elliott, 1; Miss A. Dick, 2; Mrs J'. Dick, 3. The game which was conducted by the Misses H. and I. Madsen was won by Miss O. Halberg, with Mrs K. Ngatuere second, and Mrs J. Dick third.
A parcel of 24 garments was made up and sent to the Red Cross Society. The hostesses, Misses H. and I. Madsen, served afternoon tea, after which the singing of the National Anthem brought the meeting to a close.
