OBITUARY
MR EZRA HILL DALTON. The many friends in the Wairarapa of Mr Ezra Hill Dalton will regret to hear of his death, which occurred suddenly in the Red Cross Home, Wellington, on Saturday. The late Mr Dalton, who was at one time a resident of the Martinborough district, enlisted in the Wairarapa during the last war in the 7th Reinforcements in 1915, and joined the Otago Mounted Rifles. He was severelywounded in the spine and upon his return to New Zealand was admitted to Masterton Hospital, where he remained for about a year. As he was permanently incapacitated by his wounds, he was transferred to the Red Cross Home, Hobson Street. Wellington, where he had been a patient ever since. He suffered his severe disability with marvellous fortitude, and was never known to complain. He had many friends in Masterton and elsewhere in the Wairarapa. Much of Mr Dalton’s time was passed profitably with craft work and in other ways. The funeral is taking place in Wellington today. Arrangements have been made for the Wairarapa Patriotic Association to be represented at the funeral by Mr F. P. Bailey, secretary of the Wellington War Relief Association.
