GIFT PARCELS
CHRISTMAS CHEER FOR MEN OVERSEAS. COMING MASTERTON APPEAL. Masterton residents are to be invited to subscribe towards providing Christmas gift parcels for soldiers overseas. At a meeting of the Masterton Women's Patriotic Committee yesterday it was decided to make a house to house collection and a street appeal in furtherance of this objective, on Friday. September 6. The collection will be made by members of the Women’s Patriotic Committee.
The funds will go towards providing Masterton's quota of 250 Christmas gift parcels, with a view to enabling every member of the New Zealand forces overseas to receive a parcel. Masterton’s last quota of gift parcels was fully provided, but owing to the rapid increase in the number of men serving overseas the quota for Christmas gift parcels is double the previous one. It is confidently anticipated that the public will respond to this appeal in the same generous manner as was the case last time.
