WEDDING PATERSON—COOK. ("Times-Age" Special.) St Mark's Anglican Church. Carterten, was the scene of a pretty wedding cn Saturday evening, when Isla Doreen, younger daughter of Mrs and the late Mr E. Cook, of Carterton, was married to Andrew, younger son ol Mr and Mrs Paterson, of Dannevirke. The ceremony was performed by the Rev W. F. Stent, Vicar of St Mark’s. Mrs F. G. Bath presided at the organ. Ihe bride, who looked charming in a gown of pearl embossed chiffon over white slipper satin, was escorted by her brother. Her long tulle veil which hung from her head was carried by three- little maids, and her lovely bouquet comprised white hyasinths, fillies and cyclamen relieved with asparagus and maiden hair fern. She wore a coronet of orange blossoms and a beautiful string of pearls. The bride was attended by Miss Amy Hurley, and her sister, Mrs W. J. Boston, as matron of honour. - Both wore white silk chiffon net over taffeta trimmed with frilled net shaped into horse-shoes. On the skirt above each was a tiny scarlet rosette, with a bolero of frilled net. They carried scarlet shaded bouquets of carnations and cyclamen tied with scarlet ribbon to match. Signet rings were worn these being the gift of the bridegroom. Three little maids, Barbara Boston, Nola Crew and Shirley Crew, were dressed similar to the bridesmaid and matron of honour, and carried posies to match. They wore brooches bearing their respective names, these being the gift of the bridegroom. Mr Buckland, of Paramata, carried out the duties of best man and Mr Quentin Desmond was groomsman. After the wedding the bridal party had their photographs taken. A reception was held at the State Theatre, Holloway Street, when about 250 guests were present. They were ; by the bride’s mother, Mrs wearing a floral net freck with wine velvet coat and shoulder spray. Mrs Paterson. mother of the bridegroom, wore a black costume and a red shoulder spray. Among the toasts honoured were those of bride and bridegroom, bridesmaids, and parents of both bride and bridegroom. Subsequently a dance was held at which those present spent an enjoyable time. Mr and Mrs Paterson left during the evening on their honeymoon which will be spent in Rotorua and Auckland. The bride travelled in a tan costume, relieved with gold buttons, with shoes and hat to match and a musquash fur coat. They presented each other with initialled dress rings. Many beautiful and costly presents were received by Mr and Mrs Paterson.

G. Brown won Mr Lawrence’s trophy for the best net score in the seniors (162, 22, 140). and C. C. Callender won Mr Brown’s trophy for the best net score in the juniors (188, 48, 140). The following were the best scores handed in on Saturday for the medal round and second qualifying round of the championships:—Miss J. Orr. 95, 36, 5.9; Mrs Candy, 89, 17. 72; Miss Campbell, 9Q, 18. 72; Mrs Mufray, 91, 19, 72; Mrs Robinson, 102, 29, 73; Miss Armstrong, 101, 28, 73; Miss Peters, 105. 31, 74; Miss Freer, 101, 26, 75; Mrs Colson, 96, 19. 77; Mrs Dwane, 99, 22, 77; Miss Smart, 97, 19, 78; Mrs Harrington, 96, 17, 79; Mrs Callender, 95, 16, 79; Miss Booth,'los, 24, 81; Miss McFarlane, 105, 23, 82. The first eight qualifying for the junior championship are: Mrs Murray, Mrs Colson, Mrs Dwane. Mrs Robinson, lyfiss Freer, Miss Armstrong, Miss J. KSooth, Miss McFarlane. Mrs Candy headed the list of the seniors who all qualified. OBITUARY MR JOHN CADENHEAD. After a short illness there died at the Masterton Public Hospital yesterday an old and highly respected resident of Carterton in the person of Mr J. K. Cadenhead, at the age of 78 years. Deceased was born at Partick, Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1862, and came to New Zealand with his parents, Mr and Mrs David Cadenhead. when a boy 2 years of age, in the sailing ship Sir William Ayre. They resided in Wellington for a time and then went to Featherston. The late Mr Cadenhead received his education at the Featherston School, and in his early youth followed the work of bushfalling. He was also a railway servant at Cross Creek. Later on he joined the staff of Mr G. W. Deller, butcher, and was with the firm for very many years until he finally retired into private life and lived with his sister, Mrs Crawley, of Tyne Street. The late Mr J. Cadenhead has seen many changes in lhe Wairarapa during his residence of 76 years. He was a member of Court Marquis of Normanby Lodge of Foresters up to the time of his death and will be accorded a lodge funeral which will leave his late residence. Tyne Street. Bandsman Entertained. Members of the Carterton Municipal Silver Band gathered at the band room Holloway Street, Carterton, on Friday evening to entertain one of their members. Mr Stan Hall, who left for camp on Saturday. During the evening Mr W. H. Spooner made eulogistic reference to the personal qualities of Mr Hall and to the valuable services rendered in connection with band activities. On behalf of members of the band he asked Mr Hall to accept a money belt as a slight token of their esteem and. expressed the hope that he would return to Carterton safe and sound. Mr Hall’s health was then toasted. Mr Hall suitably returned thanks. The singing of "For He’s A Jolly Good Fellow" and "Auld Lang Syne’’ brought an enjoyable gathering to a close. Personal Items. Mr E. T. Beaven, County Clerk, who has been an inmate of Masterton Hospital. has returned to his home. Mrs H. J. Smith who has been visiting Carterton. has returned to Wellington.
