ADVENTUROUS PATROL
BRITISH SUBMARINE’S REPORT
ALMOST RAMMED BY BIC SHIP. REPAIRS EFFECTED AT SEA. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright I (Received This Day, 11.20 a.m.) LONDON. August 25. The submarine Sea Lion returned from a patrol in the North Sea after a number of adventures. She reports that when she was manoeuvring to attack convoyed enemy merchantman, a 9.000 ton ship suddenly changed course and came straight for the Sea Lion, which dived, but heard a grinding crash as her periscope was struck. Depth charges followed, but failed to find their mark. The Sea Lion came to the surface at night and effected repairs, though it was only possible for two or three men to work at a time, while the swinging gear threatened to sweep lhem into the heavy sea. The Sea Lion returned home without a periscope. On an earlier patrol, the Sea Lion sank an enemy supply ship.
