FRIENDLY FAREWELL
AMERICAN JOURNALISTS ON TOUR. DEPARTURE FROM AUSTRALIA. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) CANBERRA, August 23. The Prime Minister, Mr Menzies, received a farewell message from the visiting American journalists, who are now flying to Darwin on route to the Dutch East Indies. The message expresses to the Commonwealth Government a deep sense of appreciation and profound gratitude for the generous hospitality and also the friendly interest shown in their visit.
A Brisbane report says the visiting journalists are all keen that Australia should grant reciprocal rights to America "to establish an air base in .Austalia. They declared that they see Australia as the foundation of a now world power affording the closest bonds in outlook, linking the peoples of America. Canada and Australia.
