Claimed to be the fastest military plane in the world, a new interceptor aircraft .was unveiled by the Lockheed Aircraft Corporation. It is disclosed that the army has ordered a large quantity, and Britain has a contract for 800 at a cost of 60,000,000 dollars (£15,000,000). The machine is a twin-engined pursuit plane carrying a one-pound rapidfire cannon and five machine-guns. The experimental model last year attained 460 miles an hour. Army experts are delighted. A London message states that the new American fighter plane is called the P3B and it is claimed that successful tests have revealed a speed of 500 miles an hour. It has a range of 1100 miles.
